Description
Peppers are among the most popular vegetables grown by home gardeners. They need a long, warm growing season and grow slowly during cool periods. Sweet bell peppers grow on compact bushes about 16 inches high. California Wonder is a good stuffing pepper with tender flesh and delicate flavor.

Planting
Peppers are a warm season plant and seed should be planted in warm soil in spring. Seed may be started indoors and transplanted.
Care
Thin when plants are 2 inches high. Mulch regularly to keep weeds down and retain moisture. Fertilize monthly with 5-10-10 or equivalent fertilizer.
Harvest
Harvest may begin when peppers attain a usable size. Most peppers are harvested green but if left on the plant to turn red they become sweeter.
Hint
Bell peppers have a short growing season and many ripen at once. Dry or freeze some for later use.
