Description
These are popular edible pod peas that produce tender, flavorful pods. They are also called snowpeas because growers in China found that they were not bothered by light snow. Fresh peas lose their sweetness soon after harvest which is why they are more popular with home gardeners than supermarket shoppers.

Planting
Peas are a cool season crop. In mild climates peas can be planted throughout the cooler months of the year.
Care
Thin when plants are 3 inches high. Mulch to keep weeds down and retain moisture. Erect trellis or support for plants as they reach 48-60 inches in height.
Harvest
Harvest at first sign of seed development and when pods are young and tender. Harvest carefully using fingernails or scissors. Pick every day during harvest period.
Hint
Best time to pick pods is early morning as they are crisper and will store better.
