Grand Slam Platinum™

Turf-Type Perennial Ryegrass Blend

Description

Perennial Ryegrass is a cool season bunch grass that is native to Europe and is widely planted as both a pasture grass and turfgrass in the United States. Like tall fescue it spreads by shoots or tillers as opposed to bluegrass which
spreads by runners or rhizomes. In the 1970s new varieties were developed that were more acceptable for use as a turfgrass, hence the name “Turf-Type Perennial Ryegrass.” These ryegrasses are best suited to the northern and transition
climate zones as a permanent turf and in the southern, humid zones as a winter overseeding grass mainly on dormant bermudagrass. Perennial Ryegrasses are also pop-ular in seed mixtures with Kentucky Bluegrasses and Fine Fescues. With a
uniform fine texture and outstanding dark green color, Turf-Type Perennial Ryegrasses grasses exhibit excellent turf quality with little thatch buildup. They establish quickly and with favorable conditions can germinate in as little as 5
days. There are well over 200 varieties of Turf-Type Perennial Ryegrasses with various traits and characteristics. The varieties chosen for this blend have been tested, highly rated, and exhibit exceptional overall turf quality with
disease and drought resistance. It meets our platinum standards of superiority for variety quality and seed purity. Learn More.
