Pollination is essential for success so corn needs to be planted in a block of three rows of 12-24 plants (rather than one row). Make successive plantings every two weeks to prolong harvest.
Thin when plants are 6 inches high. Water frequently by soaking the soil, at least 1 inch per week. Apply a balanced fertilizer during the growing season in a furrow 6 inches away from plants. Mulching helps to keep soil moist.
Harvest when ears are completely filled out and a pierced kernel shows a milky liquid.
Sweet Corn loses sweetness soon after harvest. Eat or preserve immediately after picking.
