Description
Introduced from Europe and adapted to most climates of North America. Creeping Red Fescue is medium to dark green in color and reproduces by tillers and very short rhizomes. This grass performs well in open sun and moderate shade. It exhibits a very fine almost wiry texture and when left unmowed grows up to 15 inches high and lays over giving a ‘meadow’ effect.

Uses
Turfgrass mixtures for sun or shade.

New turf or ground cover: 6-10 pounds per 1000 square feet depending on whether other grasses or wildflowers are being used in the seed mix. Overseeding: Up to 10 pounds per 1000 square feet.

Emergence: 10-14 days.
Establishment: 6-8 weeks. Best seeded in Fall, Winter and Spring.
Adaptability & Care
Growing region: A cool season best adapted to well drained soils.
pH Range: Will tolerate slightly acid conditions.
