Row Spacing: 60 in.
Seed Spacing: 12 in.

Plant Spacing: 24 in.
Days to Sprout: 7-14
Days to Harvest: 85-100

Uses

Choose a warm and sunny location, preferably south facing. Gourds need plenty of summer heat to ripen. Seeds may be started indoors and transplanted into the garden.

Seeding Rates

Give plants a wire or trellis support to keep ripening fruits off the ground.

Establishment

Gourds should be left to ripen on the vine as long as possible. Mature fruit will have a hard, glossy shell and tough, dry stems. After harvesting cure in a warm dry location. When dry preserve with a coating of wax, lacquer or shellac.

Quality Assurance

Cut gourds with some stem so that they can be easily hung to dry.
