Grande II is a recent improvement of the original Grande, among the first improved tall fescue varieties that exhibit rhizomes. A rhizome is a specialized stem that acts as an energy storage organ and means of propagation. In space plantings Grande has been shown to produce rhizomes on up to 67% of the plants. Rhizomes have the ability to more quickly "knit" the turf together as well as repair thin and bare spots. |
